Cold drawn steel profile
Cold Drawn Special Profiles
Transformation of steel bars into high-value semi-finished or final products
Cold drawing is the cornerstone of our special profile manufacturing process.
This high-precision forming technology reduces the cross-sectional area of the raw material (bars or coils) by pulling it through custom dies, transforming it seamlessly into secondary or end-use products. Cold drawing technology is unmatched in creating complex geometries with micrometric precision.
The technology employs a succession of drawing passes, during which the steel progresses through successively smaller sizing dies until the exact geometry and dimensions established in the design phase are fully realized.
Furthermore, the cold drawing process optimizes the material’s microstructure and mechanical properties, according to specific engineering requirements.

Process design
Design of Steel Profiles
Designing custom steel profiles involves multiple steps and requires close collaboration between the customer and the manufacturer to ensure the final product perfectly meets specific application requirements. We carefully listen to our customers’ requests and deeply understand their actual needs. This enables us to determine the most efficient manufacturing process tailored to their requirements, accurately deliver the required profiles, ensure outstanding overall quality, and effectively reduce costs.

Hot rolling
Steel hot rolling process
Hot rolling is a thermomechanical process. The steel is initially heated and then passed through multiple rolling stands, each equipped with counter-rotating steel rollers. As the metal passes through each pair of rollers, the cross-sectional shape of the bar changes to reach the defined geometry.

Cold rolling
Steel profile cold rolling
Cold rolling involves the plastic forming of metal at room temperature, unlike hot rolling which is performed at high temperatures. The metal undergoes deformation as it passes through the cold rolling mill, enabling the production of profiles with extremely precise dimensions and a superior surface finish. During this process, the steel simultaneously undergoes work hardening, which further increases its mechanical strength and hardness, making it primarily used for manufacturing high-precision profile products.

Heat treatment
Heat treatment for steel optimization
Heat treatment is used to restore the mechanical properties of the steel to an optimal state, thereby optimizing it for subsequent processing steps. This type of treatment is sometimes essential, acting either as a pre-processing operation or as an intermediate step repeated at various stages throughout the manufacturing process.

Surface treatment
Steel Surface Treatment & Preparation
After the heat treatment of the profiles, a mild oxide scale forms on the steel surface. To protect the drawing dies and enhance the final appearance, the steel must undergo a series of rigorous surface treatments. First, chemical pickling or mechanical shot blasting is used to completely remove the oxide layer. Next, a passivation process is applied to improve the material’s corrosion resistance. Finally, a professional lubrication treatment is applied to the surface to drastically reduce friction resistance during the subsequent high-pressure forming process. This meticulous series of surface treatments perfectly prepares the material for the final and core manufacturing step: cold drawing.

Cold drawing
Cold drawn special profiles
Cold drawing is the core step of our special profile manufacturing process. This precision forming process reduces the cross-sectional area of the material (bars or coils) by drawing it through dies, transforming it into a secondary or final product. Cold drawing technology excels in creating complex geometries with centesimal precision (0.01mm). The process involves multiple drawing passes, during which the steel passes through progressively smaller dies until the exact geometry and dimensions established in the design phase are achieved.

Product
Steel profile finishing
After the cold drawing process, the profiles undergo cutting to size, straightening, and flattening. Following this series of rigorous inspections, they are packaged according to customer requirements and subsequently dispatched via land or sea freight.
